Self-care tips for a busy calendar

Woman self-care with body brush scrub

I am guessing that you are reading this because you want to do something good for yourself and your skin, but you can’t find the time. Between waking up early, getting the kids ready for school, and working all day, it is hard to find some time for yourself to relax and unwind. Chances are you push your “me time” to the weekend, or maybe you don’t find it at all. Don’t worry – I am here to give you some easy, quick tips for your everyday routine and for your weekend, where you have a bit of extra time on your hands. The truth is that we are going to wear our skin for the rest of our life and it is not improving with age, so let’s take good care of it with some self-care tips.

In this blog post, I will share five tips on how you can improve your blood circulation, and by doing so: get softer, healthier, and younger-looking skin.

Use a Gua Sha to get radiant skin If all you have is 5 minutes

Start by cleansing your skin, use a hydrating face mist and your favorite moisturizing serum or face oil. Grab your Gua Sha and start or use your hands to give yourself a face massage. This helps increase blood circulation, relaxes tense facial muscles, and gives your skin a healthy glow.

Remove toxins and get softer skin with dry brushing

You only need a couple of minutes for this simple but effective treatment. Use a dry brush all over your body before you step into your shower. It boosts blood circulation and starts lymphatic drainage. Dry brushing helps remove toxins from your body and improve the appearance of cellulite. It also removes dead skin cells, so your skin becomes super soft.

Scrub your body to achieve firmer and smoother skin

I recommend using a body scrub a couple of times a week to remove dead skin cells and renew the skin. It only takes about ten minutes, but it will leave you feeling like a new person. Body scrubs are often based on salt or sugar; the main difference is that salt scrubs are rougher and salt doesn’t melt as quickly as sugar does. I created a firming body scrub that is formulated with a combination of sugar and salt to give you just enough time to scrub the dead skin cells off, without it being too coarse. Use the body scrub in the shower or bath, massaging it in a circular motion. After scrubbing your whole body (except your neck and face) rinse off with lukewarm water and pad your skin dry with a towel, this allows the remaining oils to absorb into your skin, leaving it silky soft.

Nourish and protect your skin

Take five to ten minutes out in the evening to treat your body to a luxurious body butter or oil. Choose a product based on natural ingredients or make a massage oil at home and involve your partner, so you both wake up with soft skin. I always recommend using body products that are based on butters or oils, in the evening because they take time to absorb into the skin. Massage the product into your skin and go to bed naked. You will wake up with soft baby skin.

Weekend home spa time

This tip is for the weekend if you have 20-30 minutes to spoil yourself. Prepare a warm bath with your favorite bath soak or add Epsom salt or sea salt to absorb some essential minerals. You can also add a few drops of your favorite essential oils. Lavender and rose are relaxing while rosemary and grapefruit are refreshing and energizing. Cleanse your skin and apply a hydrating face mask before stepping into your bath. Practice deep breathing while you relax and unwind but don’t fall asleep. I hope this blog post has inspired you to implement a bit of self-care into your busy schedule.
